Kyra Minturn
Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American actor, producer and director. She is best known for her starring role as deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the TNT crime drama The Closer. As a result of her portrayal as Johnson, Sedgwick won a Golden Globe Award in 2007 and an Emmy Award in 2010. After the seventh season Sedgwick won a Golden Globe Award in 2007 as well as an Emmy Award in 2010. The series ended August 13 on the 13th of August, 2012. Sedgwick is also known for her role as a regular on Brooklyn Nine-Nine's sitcom Madeline Wuntch. Sedgwick was awarded a Golden Globe nomination for her performance as Madeline Wuntch in Something to Talk About (1995). Sedgwick's other film roles include Oliver Stone's Born on the Fourth of July (1989) and Cameron Crowe's Singles (1992), Heart and Souls (1993), Phenomenon (1996) and What's Cooking (2000), Secondhand Lions (2003), The Game Plan (2007), and The Possession (2012). Sedgwick was the daughter of Patricia Rosenwald who was a speech and family therapist, as well as Henry Dwight Sedgwick IV, a venture capitalist. She was born in New York City. Her mother, who was Jewish, was of English and Episcopalian heritage. Sedgwick has openly declared her Jewish heritage and said that she is a part of Passover seders.
